The government’s success in hosting the meetings of Asean’s foreign ministers and dialog partners in Phuket, which ended yesterday, has substantially restored the image of the country, rector of the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, said on Friday morning.
“It was a big success for the country and it also has restored confidence among in the international community after it was severely damaged by the cancellation of the Pattaya Asean summit due to the violent demonstrations of the red-shirts in April,” Mr Sombat said.
This success would help return the political situation to normalcy, the rector said.
It would also lead to further development between Asean’s member countries and their allies.
